Expect Youth have sponsored prizes for a local community football tournament run by Doncaster Community Development (DCD).
The event, hosted at Goals Doncaster was aimed at children of all ages, promoting fairness, team ethics and good sporting behaviours.
38 children took part in the event, which organiser, Saadh Shabir is hoping to make a monthly event in the calendar for children across the borough.
He said: “We are so grateful to Expect Youth for sponsoring the prizes. On the day, we took notes of goal scorers, assists and general good behaviours/sportsmanship by the children, and then rewarded them with Expect Youth’s prizes.
“The children were predominantly from the local Mosque but our aim is to run this form of competition every month and in the future we will aim to attract children from other parts of the community.
“We are aiming to investigate more funding offers to help fund this type of activity further, and we are really excited about working with the likes of Expect Youth going forward.”
Programme manager at Expect Youth, Katie Hodgson also commented: “We were delighted to be able to help make the event a success by providing the chocolate prizes. Hopefully we can work with Tausif in the New Year to set up regular sporting satellite clubs, which will further enhance the work we do in the community.
“Our mission is to work together to make sustainable improvements to the aspiration, achievement and life skills of young people across Doncaster by making a positive impact upon their lives.”
Goals Doncaster provided the hosting ground free of charge, allowing the group to use three pitches for the even and four boxes of drinks were sent free of charge for the children from a big sports drink company.
