Music To Our Ears!

06 December 2019

We have recieved some lovely feedback from one of our newest groups "90 Minute Music", please read what Simon had to say about the team:

"I’m Simon from 90 Minute Music!!! we are a non-profit digital music workshop which unlocks the potential in young people by engaging with them to encourage and build on small achievements and allow them to gain confidence and learn new skills.

We have in the past worked with children with additional needs, both in Schools and in Youth clubs. Since being invited to become EXPECT Youth members we have been working at Youth Hubs, Schools, and supporting Alternative Provision. We have been approached by the Outwood Academy Adwick to work with young people in need of additional support and are currently delivering this on a weekly basis.

EXPECT Youth have helped us create opportunities by linking us with similar groups working with young people in Doncaster.

We are soon looking forward to working with Young Carers to give respite from the steep challenges they face after being introduced to Elaine Spencer by Clare from EXPECT Youth.

EXPECT Youth have offered training to support us in gaining valuable knowledge to supplement our own experience and given us the opportunity to deliver quality provision, which will have a positive impact on the young people we work with and their families.

We are grateful for the faith that EXPECT Youth have shown in us, we have taken advantage of FREE training including:- Safeguarding, SYFAB Fundraising and bid writing, PREVENT, ZSA, GDPR, Enhanced DBS certificates, Level 3 First Aid, and a Level 2 certificate for understanding Specific Learning Difficulties.

We have been selected to take up the UK Youth First Steps to Safer Spaces, after being invited to attend an induction day where we met other youth workers in the area and learned about their experiences.

The Staff at EXPECT Youth have been very supportive, I would like to thank Clare, Katie, Dec, and Bobby who have all showed that they are prepared to get hands on to support us. We meet up with Clare on a monthly basis, and she makes time to answer our questions, and answer our emails.

We have been able to apply for funding through EXPECT Youth, after consultation with the youth council. This gave us the opportunity to promote 90 Minute Music and reach young people in areas in need of quality provision."

Thank you 90 Minute Music, you are a pleasure to work with!
